Video : Two Dead as Mercedes Car Plunges into Lake in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Body of One Recovered
Gandhinagar : A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Gandhinagar, Gujarat. A Mercedes car fell into a roadside lake near Ambapur in Gandhinagar. Two people in the car were killed in this accident. After receiving information, the team of fire brigade reached the spot and took out the car and the body of one person from the pond. While the body of a woman riding car is being searched.
A video of this incident has also surfaced, in which a man and a woman are seen trying to get out of the car somehow through the sunroof. They try to protect themselves by climbing on the roof of the car that has gone deep in the pond and are pleading for help. People standing on lakeside are advising them to hold the car in some way.
Meanwhile, the woman on the roof of the car becomes unbalanced and falls into the pond. Man tries to catch her to save, but he does not succeed. After which both of them got drown in the deep water of the pond along with the car. This video was made by someone standing on lakeside. People around reported the incident to the police. On receiving information, the team of fire brigade also reached the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Anand Modi (29), resident of Jivrajnagar opposite Police Commissioner’s office in Shahibaug in Ahmedabad. According to a fire brigade official, the Gandhinagar fire department received a call on Sunday afternoon about the car plunging into the lake. A team rushed to the spot and began search operations. Later Chandkheda fire station was called for help. Their team too arrived at the spot. By evening, the car as well as Modi’s body were retrieved while the search for the female along with him was on till last reports came in.
A fire brigade personnel who was involved in the rescue operation said, ” The locals who had gathered around the lake told us that when the car was falling into the lake, a male and a female had tried to come out through the car window. The man managed to jump out but he fell in the lake and drowned. The woman was nowhere to be seen.” The case was later handed over to Adalaj police station.
The fire brigade’s team took out the Mercedes immersed in the pond. The body of the car rider has also been recovered. The body of the woman is being searched. The cause of the accident is said to be the lock of the steering after the car is unbalanced.
PI DA Chaudhari of Adalaj said, “Once again everything in the case is clear, a decision on the complaint will be taken. As of now we only know that the deceased was returning from Palanpur. We have called his relatives. Further information will be available once they come.” He added, “Prima facie, it seems the driver lost control because of which the car plunged into the lake.”
