13 more steel plants to set up in Odisha- Minister

Bhubaneswar, March 20 (UNI) – As many as 13 steel plants with a total capacity of 64.28 MTPA will be set up in Odisha, Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallik told the State Assembly on Monday.

 

Replying to a question from Padmini Diana (BJD), the Minister said the upcoming greenfield projects are proposed to be set up at Barbil, Karakohla, Keonjhar, Mahadeijoda and Nayagarha in Keonjhar district, Banarpal in Angul district, Mahakalapada in Kendrapada, Dhinkia in Jagatsinghpur, two in Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, Lathikata and Bonai in Sundergarh district and Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.

 

Mallik said while Arya Iron & Steel Company PVT ltd proposed to set up its plant at Barbil, JSW Utkal Steel Ltd at Dinka, Orissa Alloy Steel Pvt Ltd and Beekay Utkal Steel Industries Ltd at Kalinganagar, Envirocare Infraresolution Pvt Ltd at Lathikata, Fedders Electric & Engineering Ltd at Bonai and Rngta Mines Pvt Ltd at Rairangpur.

 

Similarly, Rungta Mines Ltd proposed to set up steel plants at Karakohla and Keonjhar, Siddhiriddhi International Pvt Ltd at Mahadevi Joda, Orissa Metaliks Ltd at Nayagarh, Jindal Steel Odisha Ltd at Banarpal and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Ltd at Mahakalpada.

 

The Minister said the state government has auctioned 41 mines out of which 23 have become operational. The process is on to auction five more mines and ten more mines are in pipeline to be auctioned.

 

Mallick said the five mines for which the process is on for auction are -Kendudihi North Iron ore block, (Keonjhar) Bhanjikusum Manganese block, Kusumdihi Manganese, Kedesala iron ore north-east block and Orahuri Manganese block, all in Sundergarh.
