Pune: Policenama online – Anti Corruption Bureau Mumbai | The Anti-Corruption Bureau (Mumbai) has arrested a police sub-inspector for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 for granting immediate bail to the accused in the police station.

The police can grant bail to an accused in the case of bailable offence.

The ACB laid a trap and arrested the PSI red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 as a bribe.

The PSI has been identified as Vikas Namdev Lokhande (33). He is posted at the MIDC police station in Andheri (East).

An offence was registered against the complainant at the MIDC, Andheri police station. Lokhande had arrested an offender in a case. He demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for granting the accused bail immediately at the police station, without sending him to a court.

The plaintiff had lodged a complaint with the ACB on December 8.

After the ACB verified the complaint, they found that Lokhande agreed to settle for a bribe of Rs 10,000 as a compromise. Accordingly, Lokhande was arrested when he was accepting Rs 10,000. A case has been registered at the MIDC police station, Andheri.
