New Delhi : Fugitive diamond businessman Mehul Choksi, who lives in Antigua and Barbuda, has gone missing and police have been looking for him since Sunday. The Royal Police Force of the Caribbean island nation gave this information in a statement. At the same time, Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Brown has said that if Mehul Choksi has fled the country, his citizenship would be revoked.

It is noteworthy that Choksi is wanted in a case of alleged fraud of Rs 13,500 crore with Punjab National Bank (PNB). However, Prime Minister Gaston Brown has also stated that he does not have reliable information to date that Choksi has left the country and it is likely that Choksi was in Antigua and Barbuda.

In a statement to the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda, Brown said officials were cooperating with the Indian government, neighbouring countries and the International Police Organization in an effort to locate Choksi.

The Prime Minister said that someone from Choksi’s house indicated his disappearance, after which the country’s police issued a statement in this regard. This statement will be shared with Interpol. Earlier, Antigua police said in a statement that Choksi was last seen in his car on Sunday. The car has been recovered by the police but nothing has been known about Choksi. Choksi’s lawyer Vijay Agarwal confirmed the news of his client’s disappearance.
