New Delhi : Petrol and diesel prices in India are skyrocketing. Every day petrol and diesel prices are setting new records. At the same time, petrol and diesel are being sold much cheaper in neighboring Nepal. That too when in Nepal petrol and diesel goes from India itself. Despite the epidemic of Coronavirus, the Nepal government has sealed the border with India, despite this, petrol and diesel are being smuggled from Nepal to India.
Smugglers from Nepal are selling petrol and diesel in Bihar illegally and selling them for a higher price. People involved in smuggling petrol and diesel are busy making big money. Smugglers in the border areas are bringing petrol and diesel from Nepal to Bihar.
The border is not fully open yet due to the ban of Corona. At present, petrol in Nepal is cheaper by Rs 22 per liter than in India. It is important to mention here that the cheap oil sold in Nepal goes from India. Under the old treaty, Indian Oil Corporation only asks for fuel from the Gulf countries for Nepal. IOC supplies fuel to Nepal at purchase price only. Only refinery fees are charged from Nepal.
According to information received from UP’s Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Pilibhit, vehicle operators from India to Nepal return by filling the tank from there. Some people bring diesel, petrol in the canister and sell it in local markets. Local people enter the Nepal border by small trains and bikes and return back after filling the tank of vehicles. SSB Commandant Munna Singh says that SSB is alert now. So far no cases of petrol and diesel smuggling have been reported. Common Indian vehicles have not yet entered Nepal since the lockdown.
