Palkhi Sohala 2023 | ‘Paryavarnachi Wari, Pandharichya Dari’ initiative inaugurated
This will spread message of environment conservation, says Pravin Darade
PUNE : Palkhi Sohala 2023 | The Chief Secretary of the Environment Department, Pravin Darade, said that ‘Paryavarnachi Wari, Pandharichya Dari’ is an excellent initiative and it will help in spreading the message of environment protection and conservation.
He was speaking during the inauguration of ‘Paryavarnachi Wari, Pandharichya Dari’ Alandi to Pandharpur wari initiative jointly organised by MPCB, Maharashtra Kala Sanskruti Manch and Department of Environment and Climate Change. MPCB Chairman Abasaheb Jarhad, Director Aditya Shirodkar, Nitin Gore, former judge Dr. Madan Maharaj Gosawi, MIT Pune’s Executive Director Swati Chate Karad, senior researcher of folk art Dr Prakash Khandge, Regional Officer of MPCB Pune Shankar Waghmare were present.
Darade said, “Because of the changes in the environment, there is drought at some places while there are floods in some areas. Hence, it is necessary to create awareness about the environment. Most of the warkaris who take part in the wari are farmers. This is an effort to spread the message about environment conservation. A people’s movement about environment conservation will be created which will take some positive steps in saving our environment.”
“Everyone should follow an environment-friendly lifestyle. Festivals should be celebrated in an environment-friendly manner. The BMC has decided to celebrate Ganesh festival this year in an environment-friendly manner. Similarly, other municipal corporations and municipal councils should implement similar programmes and limit the damage caused to the environment. The use of plastic should be completely stopped and when one goes shopping, he or should carry a cloth bag,” Darade said.
HBP Dnyzneshwar Maharaj Wable, Chandabai Tiwadi and Shahir Devanand Mali tried to spread the message of environment by reciting kirtans, powadas and through presentation of folk art.
Dr Khandge gave information about the initiative. HBP Dr Goswai and Shri Gore also spoke about their views on conservation of environment.
