Pune Crime Branch Launches Operation Against Organised Crime Syndicates

Pune: Pune’s bustling criminal circuit and financial networks supporting active members of organised crime rings have fallen under the scrutiny of the Pune Police’s Crime Branch. In a decisive move, the Crime Branch paraded 21 emerging gang leaders and their associates, alongside 11 established gangs, including notorious figures like Gajanan Marne, Nilesh Ghaiwal, and Baba Bodke, at the Commissionerate today.

The parade witnessed a gathering of 267 individuals with criminal backgrounds. In a meticulous process, Pune Police have compiled detailed profiles, encompassing eight critical points, for each participant. Notably, the police have made a point to document individuals providing financial backing to these criminal elements, signalling heightened vigilance on them in the coming days.

Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende, and supported by Assistant Commissioners Sunil Tambe and Satish Govekar, the operation targeted significant established gangs and their leaders like Gajanan Marne (20 members), Nilesh Ghaiwal (09 members), Ganesh Marne (19 members), Tipu Pathan (09 members), Bandu Andekar (13 members), Umesh Chavan (10 members), Baba Bodke (29 members), Anwar alias Navva (06 members), Bapu Nair (09 members), Khada Wasim (08 members) along with some minor but prominent rising gangs including Sumit Chaudhary (06 members), Mama Kankate (05 members), Yogesh Londhe (02 members), Jangalya Payal (02 members), Sunny Tak (03 members), Sunny Hiwale (03 members), Ganesh Londhe (03 members), Jeevan Kamble (01 members), Kiran Thorat (05 members), Saurabh Shinde (01), Kunal Kalekar (01 members), Akash Bhatkar (03 members), Appa Ghadge (01 members), Aniket Sathe (02 members), Rohit Bhutda (06 members), Vidya Padale (05 members), and Aniket Jadhav (02 members).

A dedicated team of police inspectors, including Rajnish Nirmal, Ajay Waghmare, and Bharat Jadhav, spearheaded the operation, ensuring comprehensive data collection from the participants. The information gathered encompasses personal details, gang affiliations, legal representation, criminal history, jail records, recovered assets, political connections, and financial supporters.

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar emphasised the digitization of these criminal profiles, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to transparency and efficiency. Furthermore, Commissioner Kumar issued a stern warning against the glamorization of crime, asserting that stringent action awaits those who propagate criminal activities on social media platforms.

Expressing the police department’s unwavering dedication to a crime-free society, Commissioner Kumar reiterated that illegal enterprises would face no tolerance within Pune’s jurisdiction. With a renewed focus on surveillance, the Pune Police are poised to monitor criminal movements closely, ensuring swift responses to any illicit activities.
