PUNE PMC suspends licenses of businessmen for throwing garbage on roads

 Pune, Policenama Online –  The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) suspended the licenses of about two hundred businessmen who were told by the civic body not to throw garbage from their shops on the road.Unless sanitary measures are taken, their permits will be suspended and they have also been fined for littering the roads.

This civic body took action against the businessmen and fined under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The PMC is effectively implementing the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan started by the Central government.

Under the initiative, the civic body is taking special measures by inspecting private and other commercial places for cleanliness.
However, garbage and stale food is being dumped on the streets by shop owners and stall vendors. The PMC also received complaints of bad smell on the roads.PMC’s Solid Waste Management Department had advised on measures to be taken to collect waste
from such businessmen. However, the civic body found put that food traders and vegetable traders were throwing garbage on the roads.

Hence, PMC Commissioner Saurabh Rao, along with the the head of the Anti-encroachment Department Madhav Jagtap had taken action against the traders in Mahatma Phule Mandi. Thus, the licenses of 274 businessmen have been suspended for within a month.
