Pune: Policenama online – The Pimpri Chinchwad police’s social security squad have arrested three persons for alleged LPG theft from gas tankers. The police have seized cash and devices worth Rs 1.10 crore used for stealing gas from tankers.
The accused used to fill 20-25 gas cylinders from tankers and would sell them in the black market. Interestingly, tanker drivers were involved in the theft.
The accused would get Rs 600 per cylinder. The accused have been identified as tanker drivers Narsing Dattu Phad and Amol Govind Munde from Ambajogai of Beed district. Another accused Raju Chavan was selling stolen gas in the black market.
According to the police, the two accused work as tanker drivers. They were apparently supplying gas to a Khed-based company from Uran in Raigad district. The third accused Raju lives nearby. He allegedly persuaded the drivers to sell LPG gas by stealing from tankers. He assured them Rs 600 per cylinder. Later, the drivers would halt their takers on Chakan-Shikrapur road and used to fill 20-25 cylinders through a cylinder connector.
The tanker drivers used to fill less gas in tankers on the gas company premises located in the Uran area. After stealing gas from tankers, they would fill diesel to maintain the weight of gas filled in the tanker.
