Pune: The Bhakti tigress from the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Museum (Katraj Zoo) in Pune has been relocated to the Nahargarh Biological Park in Jaipur as part of an animal exchange programme. The exchange saw three foxes and a female hyena being sent to the Rajiv Gandhi National Zoological Museum in Pune in return for the Bhakti tigress.

The Nahargarh Biological Park, set to commence operations in Jaipur, will introduce Tiger Safari as one of its main attractions, with tigers from various regions of India expected to be housed in the park. The arrival of the Bhakti tigress marks the commencement of wildlife migration to the park, with plans to make her a central highlight of the Tiger Safari experience.

Led by Dr. Arvind Mathur, senior wildlife doctor of the Rajasthan Forest Department, a team has facilitated the transfer of Bhakti tigress from Pune to Jaipur. Upon arrival, Bhakti will undergo a mandatory 21-day quarantine period before being released into the tiger enclosure. Given her significance as a prime attraction, Bhakti will be kept separate from the visiting cages to ensure her safety and well-being.

Additionally, plans are underway to transport a pair of tigresses from Nagpur to Nahargarh Biological Park, pending approval from the Nagpur Zoological Museum. Once clearance is obtained, the pair will join Bhakti in Nahargarh Biological Park in Jaipur.

Spanning across 30 square hectares and developed at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore, Nahargarh Biological Park offers visitors an immersive wildlife experience. The park features an eight-kilometre-long track, allowing tourists to observe tigers in their natural habitat for a duration of 45 minutes.
