Pune : Policenama online – Mayor Muralidhar Mohol | The inauguration of the first two-deck flyover at Nal Stop will take place on Sunday at 6 pm. The inauguration will be done by leader of the opposition Devendra Fadnavis and the traffic congestion on Karve Road is likely to reduce. After the Pune Metro handed over the flyover to the PMC, the lighting arrangement is in the final stage, said Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.
When Mohol was the chairman of the standing committee, a proposal was moved for the construction of the flyover and the funds were approved in the civic budget of 2017-18.
After the Vanaz-Ramwadi route of the Pune Metro was sanctioned, Mohol had proposed a double deck flyover at Nal Stop and followed up the proposal. The then CM Devendra Fadnavis had done the ground breaking ceremony. Mohol had proposed the two deck flyover based on a similar flyover at Jaipur.
Speaking about the flyover, Mohol said, “The traffic from Deccan to western part of the city will move faster. It had been recorded that every hour, 35 to 40,000 vehicles were passing through Nal Stop chowk. Hence, it was necessary to build a flyover at the spot. Hence, a proposal was mooted and it was followed up and now, the flyover is ready.”
“Because of the Nal Stop flyover, not only western Pune but the traffic going towards Haveli and Mulshi talukas will move at a higher speed. This is the first double deck flyover in Pune and we wanted it to be built as early as possible without compromising on the quality. We have been successful in doing so. Despite the corona pandemic, the Pune Metro has completed the flyover in a short span of time,” he said.

1) The flyover is 550 metres long
2) There will be a four lane movement of traffic
3) First floor will be for vehicles and the second floor will be for the metro.
