Relief for autonomous colleges

0

Pune : Policenama online  – The Savitribai Phule Pune University has clarified that autonomous colleges can start graduate, diploma and certificate courses without taking permission from the state government and the university.

Autonomous colleges had submitted a plea to the university that they were being caught between the state government and the university. Hence, the SPPU has issued revised guidelines for autonomous colleges.

The SPPU had issued guidelines for autonomous colleges in August but the colleges were not able to take advantage of their autonomous status. Hence, a demand was being repeatedly made that there should be a revision of the guidelines for autonomous colleges.

Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar had set up a committee to examine the issue and has issued revised guidelines based on the committee’s recommendations.

However, some experts say that there are still some shortcomings in the revised guidelines.
