Pune crime | 27-year-old man rapes minor girl, forces abortion

Pune : Policenama online  Pune crime | The police have booked a 27-year-old man for rape and under the POCSO Act. The accused established physical relations with a minor girl without her consent and forced her to abort the foetus.

A 21-year-old girl lodged a complaint against the accused identified as Sudeep alias Raj Barai (26), a resident of Panch Pandav Society, Gokhale Nagar, at the Chatuhshrungi police station. The police filed an offence of rape and under the POCSO Act against Sudeep.

The incident took place between June 2017 and August 2021.

According to the police, the girl and Sudeep know each other. When the girl was a minor, Sudeep had promised to marry her and took her to a Bhugaon lodge and forcefully established physical relations with her. She got pregnant. Later, when she asked about their marriage, Sudeep declined to marry her and forced her to abort the foetus. He also used to beat her up.

Relief for autonomous colleges

 

Pune : Policenama online  – The Savitribai Phule Pune University has clarified that autonomous colleges can start graduate, diploma and certificate courses without taking permission from the state government and the university.

Autonomous colleges had submitted a plea to the university that they were being caught between the state government and the university. Hence, the SPPU has issued revised guidelines for autonomous colleges.

The SPPU had issued guidelines for autonomous colleges in August but the colleges were not able to take advantage of their autonomous status. Hence, a demand was being repeatedly made that there should be a revision of the guidelines for autonomous colleges.
