Death Rate From COVID-19 is 2.25 Percent, Recovery Rate More Than 64 Percent : Ministry of Health

New Delhi : The Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the death rate from COVID-19 on June 18 was 3.3 percent, which has now come down to 2.25 percent. At the same time, the recovery rate in mid-June was around 53 percent, which has now increased to more than 64 percent. The ministry said that with the release of 35,176 patients in the last 24 hours, the number of people recovering from infection in the country has increased to 9,52,743.

“The death rate from COVID-19 in mid-June was 3.33 percent, which came down to 2.25 percent on Tuesday,” the ministry said. India is among the countries in which the death rate is low.” The ministry has said that the concrete strategy for the prohibited area, door-to-door investigation, increasing the number of investigations and effective management of hospital cases, such efforts have been successful in reducing mortality.

The ministry said that the hospital burden was ensured to be reduced and an initiative was taken to keep patients without symptoms in isolation at home. Under the guidance of the central government, the governments of the states, union territories adopted effective methods in dealing with serious matters. Steps were taken to take priority care of the highly at-risk population using grassroots workers from the health sector.

All these efforts helped in reducing the death rate of COVID-19 in the country. During this time, the structure of three-tier hospitals was also improved. More than 30,000 people in the country recovered from the infection on the fifth consecutive day. According to the ministry data, the recovery rate was 53 percent in mid-June, which has increased to 64.24 percent on Tuesday. There are currently 4,96,988 cases of infection and all patients are under medical supervision.

The ministry has said that states, union territories are being helped by the expert team of AIIMS, New Delhi to deal with cases of infection. The infected patients are being identified early and are being sent in isolation. Along with this, steps have been taken for effective management in hospital cases. Due to all these efforts, the death rate is decreasing and the recovery rate is getting better. On Tuesday, the number of infected patients increased to 14,83,156 with 47,703 new cases of COVID-19. The death toll has risen to 33,425 with the death of 654 more patients due to infection.
