Chennai : Policenama Online – DMK added one more MP, winning Vellore Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 8,141 votes against AIADMK alliance candidate in a close contest. Earlier during Lok Sabha polls a FIR was filed against him as cash recoveries made during raids by the IT department.
After fresh polling took Place on Monday at vellore Lok Sabha constituency, a total of 28 candidates are in the fray and as the counting process started on Friday morning, there is a close fight in between ruling AIADMK candidate AC Shanmugam and his DMK rival DM Karthir Anand.
The voting in the constituency was countermanded by the Madras High Court due to cash seizures amounting to over Rs 11 crore.
Anand is the son of DMK treasurer Durai Murugan. Earlier the constituency was to go to polls on April 18 but was called off after Rupees crore seized from the Possession of DMK leaders in the district. The DMK-led front won 37 of the 38 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.
