Nagpur: A notorious criminal involved in a number of illegal activities was allegedly lynched and stoned to death by an angry mob in Narayan Peth on Sunday (February 7) even as his accomplices managed to flee from the spot, the police said.
The deceased Vijay Waghmare was badly beaten by stones, sticks in Narayan Peth till his last breath. According to the police, the residents alleged that the goon used to harass people and ask for money. On Sunday, he harassed residents in Shantinagar demanding money in return. Raged by constant trouble, the large crowd attacked Vijay and beat him to death.
Meanwhile, deputy CM Ajit Pawar was present for an event in the area when the incident took place. ShantiNagar police are being blamed for the stir caused in the area.
