Gujarat: Panchmahal Assistant Sub Inspector arrested in bribe case
Dahod : Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Panchmahal district in Gujarat has been arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials for asking a former country liquor maker to restart liquor business and pay him Rs 1 lakh on the occasion of Diwali. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) had laid a trap and they detained the ASI.
According to ACB, an accused ASI Mahendrasinh Bariya who works in Shahera police station of Panchmahal district, asked a person involved in country liquor business formerly to restart liquor business and make his Diwali happy by paying Rs. 1 lakh.
ASI later settled at Rs. 60,000 and he took the first installment of Rs. 30,000 on November 25th. As he was repeatedly asking for a second installment of Rs. 30,000, the complainant contacted Dahod ACB police station and filed a complaint, based on which the trap was plotted and accused ASI was caught for seeking and receiving bribes. The complainant had contacted ACB through toll free helpline 1064 initially.
