Mumbai : Policenama Online – The Indian Police Service (IPS) Association has strongly condemned the insulting statement by Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur about Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare, who was martyred during 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. She is the BJP’s Bhopal Lok Sabha seat candidate.
“Ashok Chakra awardee late Sri Hemant Karkare, IPS made the supreme sacrifice fighting terrorists. Those of us in uniform condemn the insulting statement made by a candidate and demand that sacrifices of all our martyrs be respected”, IPS Association tweeted.
While addressing BJP party workers in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday night Pragya said that Karkare died because she had “cursed” him for torturing her. He was not ready to release me even though there was no evidence, she further said.
She is currently out on bail in the bomb blast case. The court has discharged for charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), but she is still terror charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
On Wednesday BJP fielded her from Bhopal seat, where she is expected to have direct contest with Congress leader Digvijay Singh.
