Landslide again near Monkey Hill; stone stuck in railway engine, railway engine derails
Lonavla : Policenama online – Mumbai-Pune Railway | There was a landslide at the Monkey Hill on the Mumbai-Pune rail route on Tuesday morning. A huge stone came hurtling down and got stuck in front of the railway engine and the engine went off the track. At 3.30 am, railway officials reached the spot after they were informed about the incident. They are trying to remove the boulders. The stone is stuck in the guard opposite the railway engine. This is the third such incident in the last few days. (Mumbai-Pune Railway)
The intensity of the rain has increased in the ghats. Incidents of stones and sand flowing with the water have increased leading to such incidents. Since the rail route passes through mountains in the Monkey Hill area, such incidents are happening frequently. This has not affected the rail traffic and the trains are plying as usual.
