The Pune collector & district disaster management initiated the decision due to monsoon landslide risks

Pune : Varandha Ghat Road | In the wake up of landslide risks during the monsoon the Varandha Ghat road in the limits of Bhor taluka will be closed for heavy traffic from July 22 to September 30,2023.

The Pune collector and district disaster management authority chairman Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh has come up with the notification for the same.

As the Varandha Ghat road is infamous for its frequent landslides during the monsoon season, posing significant safety hazards. Therefore, in order to avoid possible loss of lives and money the decision of its closure has been initiated.

Deshmukh said, ” The decision of closure of Varandha Ghat road has been taken in the public interest. This decision will impede traffic movement for heavy vehicles, compelling travelers to choose an alternate route. The travelers use this route because it is the shortest link connecting the Konkan region from the rest of the state making it a popular choice.”

“As per the order the road will be closed for all types of heavy, medium, and light vehicles in the district during orange and red warnings of the Indian Meteorological department. The ghat road will remain open only for light vehicular traffic during periods without orange and red alert warnings” informed Deshmukh.
