New Delhi : The Ministry of Road Transport has made FASTag mandatory on February 15 for four-wheelers. With this, under the new system, insurance of vehicles without FASTag will also not be possible. This system will come into effect from 1 April. The ministry has decided to link it with insurance, to keep the FASTag rules strict. Necessary instructions have been issued to insurance companies for this.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport, on April 1, 2021, the FASTag must be installed on the vehicle to insure four-wheelers. While doing the insurance, the companies will check the FASTag’s laser code based on the vehicle number. FASTag can be detected with the help of transport software.
The ministry has also started the process of linking many other facilities to Fastag. The first is the plan to take the parking charge through FASTag. This arrangement has been started at Hyderabad Airport and parking fee is being charged using FASTag. Gradually, this facility will be brought to all the metros. So that people can get many types of facilities through FASTag.
