Odisha BJP protests against police “excesses”

Bhubaneswar, Mar 5 (UNI) – Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday held demonstrations in front of all Superintendent of Police (SP) offices across the state to protest against alleged police excesses on its youth wing activists.

 

The party alleged the police personnel attacked the Yuva Morcha activists during a rally on February 28 last. BJP had filed complaints against the Director General of Police (DGP),

 

Bhubaneswar- Cuttack Commissioner of Police (CP) and Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in police stations across the State on Friday.

 

State BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said If no case is registered on the ‘police excesses’, the BJP will move court.

 

On February 28, several activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha were injured during a scuffle with police while they were marching to the state Assembly in protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and demanding a CBI probe into the murder of Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.

 

Though the BJP lodged a complaint with the Capital Police station, the police did not register the case.

 

Irate over the inaction of the Police , the BJP filed complaints against the DGP, CP and DCP Bhubaneswar in all Police stations of the state on Friday and held demonstrations in front of the offices of all SPs in the state on Saturday in protest.
