Belagavi, Dec 13 (UNI)- Karnataka assembly on Wednesday was briefly adjourned after the house witnessed ruckus over security breach at Parliament as Congress and BJP members indulged in heated exchange of words.
The pandemonium in the house erupted after Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar named BJP MP Pratap Simha for giving passes to people who breached security at the Parliament.
“Pratap Simha is a wise man. I don’t know why he gave passes (to the accused). MPs ran like mice,” he said.
Taking exception to his comments, LoP R Ashoka said politics should not be played over this serious issue. “DK Suresh is also an MP. What if he would have given the passes? (Shivakumar) should not politicise it,” he said.
IT Minister Priyank Kharge alleged that the BJP would have branded the Congress as traitors if a party MP would have given the passes. “Should we not question BJP’s action,” he asked.
Accusing Congress of politicising the issue, Ashoka argued that he did not brand Shivakumar terrorist after he made derogatory remarks that the Bangalore blast accused are his brothers.
Before the pandemonium exploded, Ashoka said the lawmakers issues passes with good intention, but they are cliched as villains in these situations.
Parameshwara said identification must be mandatory while issuing passes. “Yesterday, I saw a crowd of 300 to 400 people. I reprimanded the policemen for crowding. The CM could not even walk towards the elevator, he said.
Parameshwara urged Speaker UT Khader to take appropriate steps to beef up security as he is the holder of the assembly.
In a major security breach in the Parliament earlier, two persons today jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour and sprayed yellow gas from canisters and raised slogans before they were overpowered by MPs.
Simultaneously, two persons, including a woman, sprayed colour gas from canisters, raising slogans ‘tanashahi nahi chalegi’ out the Parliament chamber.
All four have been detained by security forces.
Of the four persons, two have been identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan. Sharma was seated in the visitor’s gallery as a guest of Mysuru Lok Sabha member Pratap Simha.
The intruders reportedly had hidden the gas canisters in their shoes and sprayed yellow-coloured gas in the Lok Sabha chamber.
