PG Medical admissions – Maharashtra brings ordinance to protect Maratha students

Mumbai : After getting go ahead from the Election Commission of India, the Maharashtra Cabinet today issued an ordinance to amend SEBC Reservation Act 2018 to give protection to candidates in PG Medical admissions.

The cabinet also decided to reimburse the fees to the affected candidates in private colleges.

After the meeting of the state cabinet today, Minister Chandrakant Patil gave more information about this. He said, “The Ordinance has been issued to provide relief to the Maratha students for post graduate medical admission.  We have also demanded permission from the  central government to increase the seats in medical colleges. The Supreme Court will also be requested to increase the deadline for admission from May 25 to May 31.”
The government had reserved 16 % seats for Maratha students in the PG medical admissions; however the Bombay High Court and Supreme Court stayed the law for reservation. The Maratha students have been protesting against the Supreme Court.
