PMC to cancel registration of vehicles parked on roads for months
Pune : Policenama online – The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to take tough action against vehicles parked on roads for months. It is going to issue a notice to the vehicle owners but if they are not taken away in a week, then, the RTO registration of these vehicles will be cancelled and they will be sold in an auction. (PMC)
These vehicles are dirty but the owners don’t bother to look after them. The civic staff find it difficult to sweep the roads and carry out repairs when such vehicles are parked on the roads.
The civic body is taking several steps to keep the city clean. Pune has been ranked fifth in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan rankings. Due to the increased awareness, the disposal of solid waste is happening in a proper manner.
In many societies, there is no place to park four-wheelers and there is no space in the settlements. Hence, if a family owns more than one car, they are parked on the roads.
The lanes and bylanes are full of parked cars. Some cars are used only once or twice a month and some are at the same place for years. These vehicles obstruct the roads and create hurdles for the civic staff in cleaning the roads.
The asphalting of the roads remains incomplete because of these vehicles. Hence, the civic body has decided to act against these vehicles.
Officials of 15 ward offices have been given instructions to find such vehicles in their area. The owners of these vehicles will be served a notice based on the number plate and if they are not taken away within a week, they will be seized.
The vehicles will be seized and taken to the godown for further action. If the owners contact the PMC before the RTO process is completed, they will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
