Pune : Policenama online – A ballpen found in the car of an accused revealed the mystery of nine burglaries and gave away the accused. The Viman Nagar police also seized cash of Rs 29.20 lakh and other articles from the accused, who was nabbed on Nirgudi Road in Lohegaon.

The accused have been identified as Gajraj Motilal Verma (38, resident of Panmala, Dhayari, native of Kotari, taluka Ashta in district Sehore, Madhya Pradesh), Gore alias Ganesh Rati Rana (22, resident of Riddhi Siddhi Society, Pedgaon Panvel, Navi Mumbai, native of Kunti, taluka Bandali, district Mugalshane, Nepal).

According to the police, during police patrolling in Viman Nagar, police officers Ankush Jogdande, Shivraj Chavan and Vinod Mahajan got a tip-off that the burglary accused was coming to Nirgudi Road.

Acting on the tip-off, police arrested Gajraj Varma. During the investigation police found tools used for burglary in Varma’s car. They also found a silver Sheaffer company ballpen. Name of Arvind Hinge was written on the ballpen. The police found that the person named Arvind Hinge had lodged a complaint of burglary in his house in October with Viman Nagar police.

The accused told the police that he was involved in the burglary at Hinge’s place. He also admitted to have burgled houses in Lohegaon and Chandan Nagar areas with the help of Ganesh Rana and Shashikant Bhimrao Jadhav (32, resident of Bitargain in Karmala taluka, district Solapur).

This action by the police solved nine burglary cases registered at the Viman Nagar police station and one in Chandannagar police station. The police also seized gold and silver jewellery. Total 24 offences have been registered against the accused.

Senior police inspector Bharat Jadhav, police inspector Mangesh Jagtap led the team comprising PSI Sachin Jadhav, policemen Avinash Shevale, Ganesh Salunkhe, Sachin Jadhav, Ramesh Lohkare, Umesh Dhende, Sachin Jadhav, Rupesh Pisal, Harun Pathan, Ankush Jogdande, Vinod Mahajan, Nana Karche, Shivraj Chavan, Girish Nagekar, Kiran Abdagire under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, additional CP Namdev Chavan, DCP Rohidas Pawar, and ACP Kishor Jadhav.
