The Pune District and Sessions Judge issued their execution warrant on April 10. In 2007, BPO employee Jyotikumari (22) was gang-raped and murdered.

She hailed from Gorakhpur. She had resigned from the company. On the last day of her job, Borate and his friend had picked her in office cab for night shift. However, they did not take her to office but raped and murdered her. Her body was found in Gahunje on the next day.

In March 2012, the Pune Sessions Court convicted both of them and awarded death sentence to them. The Bombay High Court and then the Supreme Court upheld the punishment. The convicts had filed mercy petitions with the Governor and the President, but the petitions were rejected.
