Two college dropouts from Gujarat arrested in online fraud

Mumbai Dec 30 (UNI)- Two college dropouts from Gujarat have been arrested by Mumbai police for cheatung people by offering them easy online jobs or `tasks’, an official said here on Saturday.

The bank accounts used by the accused Rupesh Pravikumar Thakkar and Pankajbhai Govardhan Oad showed financial transactions of a whopping Rs 60 crore in three months and police has freezed Rs 1.1 crore in these accounts, official added.

During investigation, police found 32 bank accounts with transactions of Rs 60 crore and more. Police also recovered 33 debit/credit cards, 32 cheque books of various banks, six mobile phones and 28 SIM cards from the accused who were booked under section 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.

Further probe was on, the official said. The kingpin, Alex, is believed to be operating from London.
The scam was uncovered while investigating a case of online fraud.
