Pune: Crime Branch Unit Two Nabs Teacher for Gold Mangalsutra Snatching From Swargate ST Stand

Pune: A police team from Crime Branch Unit Two has apprehended a teacher for stealing a gold mangalsutra by snatching it from the woman’s neck on Monday. The arrested individual has been identified as Balu Prakash Ranpise, and astonishingly, he is a teacher by profession.

Ranpise, 32, is a resident of Borgaon, Taluka Malshiras, District Solapur. On Monday afternoon, a lady, Manjula Narayan Chillal, was walking towards Ghorpade Peth in front of Swargate Police Station. At that time, Ranpise came from the woman’s behind and snatched the 11 gram mangalsutra, worth Rs 66,000, from the woman’s neck.

When the woman screamed for help, the patrolling team of the Crime Branch Unit Two police immediately responded to her help call and apprehended the accused by chasing him. In a subsequent interrogation, the accused confessed his involvement in a few other similar crimes in the area. Police found a broken mangalsutra in the accused’s pants pocket.

After verification, the police handed over that mangalsutra to the woman. For further investigation, the accused was entrusted to Khadak Police Station.

This action was taken by a team of police personnel, including Police Sub-Inspector Rajendra Patole, Police Shankar Nevse, Sanjay Jadhav, Vinod Chavan, Nagnath Rakh, and Mohsin Shaikh, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Shailesh Balakwade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Amol Zende, Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime-1 Sunil Tambe, and Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Bidwai.
