Pune: Policenama online  – Pune Crime News | The Crime Branch of the Pune police arrested a man in Somwar Peth who was evading the Mumbai police in a cheating case. The accused has been identified as Prafful Jayawant Koli (30), a resident of Alibaug. (Pune Crime News)

An FIR of cheating had been registered against Koli at the Colaba police station in September 2020. Koli had sold a fishing boat, which he did not own, to another person. He was absconding after taking ₹3.80 lakh from the buyer. The Colaba police were searching for him but could not locate him.

A policeman from Crime Branch unit 1, Nilesh Sable was patrolling in Somwar Peth. He came to know that an accused in a cheating case was in a hotel in Somwar Peth. A team of police officials arrested him after laying a trap.

The action was taken under the guidance of Sr PI Shabbir Sayyad by PSI Sunil Kulkarni, Nilesh Sable, Ajay Thorat, Datta Sonwane, Rahulk Makhre, Abhinav Ladkat, Anna Mane and Mahesh Bamgude.
