Private coaching class teacher sentenced to 15 years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping minor
Pune: Policenama online – Pune Pimpri Chinchwad Crime News | A teacher of a private coaching class has been sentenced to 15 years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹50,000. The sentence was pronounced by Special Court Judge KK Jahgirdar. If the convict pays the fine, it should be handed over to the victim after the period of appeal is over. The teacher has been identified as Gopal Kisanrao Chavan (33). The crime had taken place from December 2017 to 2018 at Nigdi. The case was probed by PSI Utkarsha Deshmukh under the guidance of Sr Pi Shankar Autade.
Gopal Chavan was operating a private coaching class in partnership. He lured a minor girl coming to his class by promising to marry her and established physical relations with her against her wish. The police had arrested Chavan after an FIR was registered.
Ad Suchitra Narote examined eight witnesses on behalf of the prosecution. She had demanded maximum punishment for the accused because he had destroyed the girls’ life. The court sentenced him to 15 years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000.
