The Yerawada police have arrested senior Jailer Yogesh Bhaskarrao Patil (52), a resident of Jail Colony, Kolhapur. A 39-year-old woman has lodged a complaint (562/23) at the Yerawada police station.
According to the information given by the police, the complainant is a jail constable. An FIR of rape is registered against accused Yogesh Patil. The accused used to call the complainant frequently and tell her to take back her complaint and talk with him and that he could not live without her. On Monday (Aug 14), when the complainant was going home at 9.30 am, the accused accosted her. He told her, “I know that you stay in a rented house. Your reputation has been ruined and people will not allow you to stay here. Come with me.”
He came to her house. He took away the washing machine from her house. He returned after some time with a plastic bottle filled with petrol. He told her that he would not allow her to marry anyone else and poured petrol on her and tried to set her on fire. The complainant pushed him aside and went to another room and saved her life. The police have arrested the jailer and PI Jadhav is probing the case.
