Pune Crime | Youth held for abusing, attacking a police sub-inspector at Katraj police chowki

Pune :  Policenama online – Pune Crime | Incidents of violent reactions by those against whom the Pune police act are rising. A youth who was brought to a police chowki for arguing with the traffic police after he was found violating traffic rules created a ruckus on Saturday.

 

He beat up and abused a police sub-inspector (PSI) and also ransacked furniture in the police chowki. This incident took place at the Katraj police chowki. Later, the youth was booked and arrested.

 

He has been identified as Harshal Bapurao Mohite (21), a resident of Chikhali, Pune. A complaint has been filed in this regard by Traffic police constable Ganesh Sarjerao Narute (32) at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.

 

According to the police, Narute was on duty at Katraj Chowk on Saturday night. He spotted the accused driving his car speedily and honking frequently. Narute asked him to stop his vehicle. However, Mohite did not follow his instructions and tried to drive away.

 

Later, his car was intercepted by Narute’s colleagues some distance away. They demanded legal documents of the vehicle from him. However, the accused charged at them and challenged their authority. He was then brought to Katraj police chowki, where he caused a ruckus by throwing chairs. He also charged at PSI Gaurav Dev. He abused and beat up PSI Dev. He obstructed government work.

 

An offence was registered against the accused at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. The police are investigating the matter further.
