Pune: Neither the city’s organised crimes are showing any signs of abating, nor is the police commissioner’s dedication to crack down on them. In Pune city, the number of organised crimes and, in turn, the number of people arrested in these cases is increasing day by day.

In the latest action, Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar apprehended the notorious criminal Shahrukh Saeed Khan. Remarkably, this is the 97th action of the police commissioner under the MPDA Act.

The accused, identified as Shahrukh Saeed Khan, 27, is a recidivist criminal and resides in the Nagpur Chawl area of Yerawada, Pune. He has committed several serious offences, including causing injuries to people with weapons like swords, knives, and machetes. He has had four serious crimes registered against him in the last three years.

Taking note of his increasing criminal activities, the proposal to detain him was sent by Balkrishna Kadam, Senior Police Inspector of Yerawada Police Station, to police commissioner Ritesh Kumar. After detailed scrutiny of related documents and evidence received, the commissioner gave his nod to the initiation of action against Khan.

Accordingly, the commissioner ordered the detention of the accused in Chandrapur Central Jail under the MPDA Act for the next complete year. Accordingly, the accused was detained and handed over to jail authorities for further action.
