Wave of Vandalism Hits Pune: 12 Street Cars Ravaged in Yerawada by Machete-Wielding Hooligans

Pune: Once again, Pune city is witnessing a surge in ruthless vandalism targeting street cars. In the latest incident of vandalism, 12 vehicles were allegedly vandalised by hooligans in the Yerawada area with the help of machetes. This incident happened at Bhor Ali in the Ramnagar area on Monday, February 26, at around 11.15 p.m.

In this case, Yerawada police have arrested two people, Ajay Chitragupta Waghri, age 19, a resident of Sadalbab Chowk, Yerawada, and Sumit Bharat Sitaprao, age 19, a resident of Shivneri Building, Kharadi, under IPC 308, 427, 504, 506(2), and 34. Furthermore, they both have been booked by the Yerawada police under the Criminal Law Amendment Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.

As per the information, two people came to the Ramnagar area on Monday at around 11.15 p.m. They had machetes and hocky sticks in their hands. After that, both people started vandalising the street cars, such as motorbikes, rickshaws, tempos, and two-wheelers parked on the side of the road. Shockingly, they also threatened the citizens of the area with significant consequences if they tried to come in between.

The accused created terror in the area and damaged many cars in the late-night vandalism. After getting information about the incident, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil and Crime Inspector Ashalata Khapare visited the scene. Both immediately apprehended the absconded accused and put them behind bars. Further investigation in this case is being done by Assistant Police Inspector Kadam.
