Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar visited Gajanan Marne at the latter’s home. The visit ahead of the impending general elections has triggered speculations.

Marne had joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the presence of Ajit Pawar a few years ago. This had invited criticism. Later, Marne was expelled from the party. Marne’s wife Jayashree Marne was elected as a corporator from Kothrud.

Parth Pawar visited the Marnes on Wednesday. NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) City Unit President Deepak Mankar, former Mayor Datta Dhankawade, Executive President Pradeep Deshmukh and others were present. It was not immediately known what they discussed. However, the visit became a talking point ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leaders have planned similar visits to important people within the constituency. This visit was a part of visits to eminent people from the Khadakwasla assembly constituency. Parth Pawar also visited former corporator Bandu Khemse and others. The visit to former corporator Jayashree Marne was a part of these visits, said Executive President Pradeep Deshmukh.
