An agitation was organized by NCP in Pune, where they also demanded action against those responsible for the desecration of a statue of Shivaji Maharaj in Bangalore. Amit Shah on his visit to Pune will lay the foundation stone of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Pune Municipal Corporation and will also inaugurate a statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

The NCP led by city president Prashant Jagtap today staged a fierce agitation near the statue of Rani Lakshmibai on Jangli Maharaj Road to protest against the BJP’s policy of deliberately insulting great men wherever possible. On this occasion, the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was anointed with milk on behalf of Pune City NCP.

Reacting to the desecration of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the state of Karnataka, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had said that the incident was “minor”.

Taking a jibe on the statement of the Karnataka CM, NCP Pune city members said that instead of posting photos of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on the banners, photos of Amit Shah, Narendra Modi and many other “minor” BJP leaders were posted.
