Pune : Dattawadi police arrested a youth who was carrying a pistol illegally. A pistol and a live cartridge were seized from him. The arrested is identified as Swapnil Raju Chavan (24, resident of 130, Dandekar Bridge). A case has been registered at Dattawadi police station under the Arms Act.
The local police and crime branch are trying to curb the rising crime in the city. Patrolling, intelligence is being extracted and action is being taken accordingly. Meanwhile, while getting information at Dattawadi police station, employees Shivaji Kshirsagar and Rahul Olekar got information through a reporter that a man is standing near Dandekar bridge with a pistol.
After confirming this information, a team of Sub-Inspectors Swapnil Lohar, Staff Kundan Shinde, Mahesh Gadhve, Amit Surve, Sagar Sutkar, Rahul Olekar, Shivaji Kshirsagar, Sharad Raut, Akshay Kumar Wable, Navnath Bhosale and Pramod Bhosale under the guidance of Senior Inspector Devidas Gheware raided the place. When the man was searched by police, a home-made pistol and a live cartridge worth Rs 30,000 were found from him. Police are investigating from where and why he brought the pistol.
