Review meeting on Puri Rath Yatra emphasizes on timely observance of daily rituals of lords
Puri, May 6 (UNI) – Puri Rath Yatra | The second meeting to review the progress of annual rath yatra of Lord Jagannath held here on Saturday insisted on timely observance of daily nitees and rituals.
The meeting chaired by Minister of state law Jagannath Saraka also emphasised on completing sanitation work, improving health and hygiene of the town besides provision of drinking water and continuous power supply during the fete.
The first meeting was chaired by the RDC on April 11 last while the last and the final meeting as per the “Ratha Code” will be taken by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
Saraka in presence of ministers of other concerned departments took a review of all concerned officials, engineers and servitors to assess the progress made for the conduct of the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and devi Subhadra scheduled to commence from June 20 next.
The construction of three chariots for use by the deities is making steady progress, the meeting was informed. The required 3000 metres of special cloth for decorating the body of the chariots have been procured from Gujarat while 300 kg. sandal wood is being obtained from Tamilnadu, the temple chief administrator said.
The East Coast Railway(ECoR) will run 210 trains to Puri during the festival. The meeting directed the road transport authorities to regulate the passenger bus traffic and fix the fare rates from different destinations to Puri.
The NH authority has been asked to undertake the repairs to existing roads.
As many as 29 first aid centres will operate at various places while a special team will work to ensure that quality food is served in food outlets, hotels and restaurants.
The meeting discussed among other things the crowd control and management, regulation of vehicular traffic and maintaining law and order.
Forest department informed that a detailed data base on Jagannath Bana Prakalp has been prepared.
Since the matured Phasi, Asan and Dhaura trees were running scarce and becoming increasingly difficult for the forest department to provide for chariot construction the administration is managing the chariot construction depending on donation of these trees by the devotees.
The pilgrim town Puri will be placed under CCTV coverage which will be monitored from an integrated control centre while an adequate number of police personnel will be deployed, the meeting was told.
Ministers Sameer Ranjan Dash, Prafulla Mullick, Tusarkanti Behera and Pritiranjan Ghadei besides secretaries of various concerned departments were present at the meeting.
Additional DGP RK Sharma, district magistrate Samarth Verma, Superintendent of police K. Vishal Singh, Chief administrator of Sri Jagannath temple Ranjan Kumar Das, senior servitors, temple managing body members had participated in the meeting.
