Baramati: The two-term NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule may find the Lok Sabha election tough as she is likely to face NCP (AP) President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar in the poll.

In this backdrop, Sharad Pawar is visiting voters in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. On Friday, he was present in a gathering of the Swabhimani Vyapari Mahasangh, a local traders’ body. While speaking at the gathering, he praised Supriya Sule and appealed to voters to support her.

Promises to traders in Baramati

Speaking before the business community in Baramati, Pawar promised to strengthen the federation. He said, “If a country, a state, a taluka has to develop, its trade must develop. There are two categories of businessman, one is a small trader, the other is a big businessman. Traders’ organisations have been active in Baramati for many years now. However, we realised that small traders did not get much attention. Shri Saste and Shri Patankar took the lead and set up a new organisation. These traders deal in thousands and not in lakhs. This small-time business community run their families and strengthen the economy of the town. Hence, the Swabhimani Vyapari Mahasangh was formed to raise their issues.

“I would advise the Mahasangh office-bearers to look into the issues of these small traders. If you face any difficulty in solving their problems, you can contact us. We will support you. I want to see business growing in Baramati and across the State. It will make Maharashtra economically prosperous. We will have to work in that direction. It is good that you have built an organisation. We will meet again after the election.”
