Shiv Sena suffers huge blow in Nashik on eve of civic elections
Nashik : Policenama online – The Shiv Sena which is trying to capture as many civic bodies as it can in the state, has received a severe jolt in Nashik district, as many office-bearers and activists of the party have joined the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
MNS Chief Raj Thackeray was in Nashik on Monday against the backdrop of the forthcoming civic elections. Youths from Trimbakshwar, Igatpuri, Sinnar and other rural areas joined the MNS. Among those who joined the MNS are Vishwas Tambe Patil and Altamas Sheikh of Shiv Sena’s heavy vehicles unit, deputy district chief Sandip Dalvi, deputy division chief Kailash Jadhav, Yagnik Shinde of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Vikas Kale and former division chief Tushar Matale along with other officials.
The residents of Nashik district had shown maximum confidence in the MNS after it was set up. MLAs were elected from the district and the party had got the majority in the Nashik Municipal Corporation elections. The party was not able to maintain its hold in the civic body but the citizens of this district have high hopes from it. Hence, Raj Thackeray frequently visits Nashik district to keep tabs on the happenings. The results of these visits are visible now. The state is now being ruled by a coalition of three parties. If the coalition continues in the elections of the civic bodies, the aspirations of many would be candidates will not be fulfilled. Hence, they are carefully thinking about their future prospects and this is helping MNS in the district.
MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar said that changes will be visible in the elections of civic bodies as people are fed of the corrupt state government which lacks coordination and cohesiveness. Hence, an optimistic situation is being created and the youths are being attracted to Raj Thackeray, he said. Workers of many parties are entering MNS and many activists have joined the party in Mumbai and the party does not believe in luring workers by creating a rift in other parties, he added.
