BJP’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule wins the legislative council polls; gets 49 votes from Mahavikas Aghadi

Nagpur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Chandrashekhar Bawankule emerged victorious in the local self-government constituency in the legislative council elections, with a huge margin. He apparently receiving 49 votes from the Mahavikas Aghadi, the BJP’s rival alliance in the State.
Bawankule secured 362 votes as against 186 votes received by independent candidate Mangesh Deshmukh, who got last-minute support from the Mahavikas Aghadi. (Chandrashekhar Bawankule )
Earlier, the Mahavikas Aghadi constitent, the Congress Party, had given the ticket to Ramesh Bhoyar, who had recently defected from the BJP. However, the Congress withdrew his candidature owing to the opposition within the party, which ultimately resulted in the loss for the Mahavikas Aghadi.
