MUMBAI : Policenama online MLA Siddharth Shirole – Shivaji Nagar ST Stand | MLA Siddharth Shirole moved a calling attention motion in the Legislative Assembly on the issue of shifting of Shivaji Nagar bus stand from Wakdewadi to its earlier location at Shivaji Nagar. (MLA Siddharth Shirole – Shivaji Nagar ST Stand)

Because of the Pune Metro work, the ST stand at Shivaji Nagar has been shifted to Wakdewadi on the old Pune-Mumbai highway. When Devendra Fadnavis was the CM, an integrated development plan had been prepared for the ST stand. However, after the MVA government came to power, all work was stopped and no work took place at the bus stand, Shirole said.

When the MahaMetro had taken over the land of the bus depot, an MoU was signed between MSRTC and MahaMetro. According to the MoU, it had been decided that an integrated ST bus stand would be built. It was decided that two floors would be built underground and a ground floor would be built.

At present, the work of MahaMetro is over but the work of constructing an ST stand has not started. Since MSRTC’s financial condition is poor, it would be difficult for it to reconstruct a bus stand. Hence, Shirole has demanded that MahaMetro should build the ST stand as per the agreement. It was also decided to construct a commercial building and generate non ticket revenue. But the state government should act on the issue, Shirole said in the motion.

Since the bus stand has been shifted to Wakdewadi, it is inconveniencing the residents of Ekta Nagar and Wakdewadi because of huge traffic jams. The commuters are facing many problems, Shirole said in the calling attention motion.

It is necessary to re-start ST bus service from the old Shivaji Nagar ST stand because it is convenient for commuters. Metro, PMPML and railway stations are located there and hence it would be convenient for commuters if ST bus service is started from the old Shivaji Nagar stand.

Shirole asked three questions to the minister during the motion.

1) Will the Shivaji Nagar bus stand be shifted to the earlier place?
2) If it is going to be shifted, how much time will it take?
3) Can the integrated plan prepared by the earlier BJP-Sena government be implemented?

The minister has given a positive response to the motion and he has assured that the Shivaji Nagar bus stand would be built as per the integrated development plan.
