Tokyo, Nov 5 (UNI) Two people were found dead after a residential fire broke out on Sunday in Japan’s eastern prefecture of Kanagawa, just south of Tokyo, while three people sustained injuries. (south of Tokyo)
The fire started before 6 a.m. local time in Senzushima, Minamiashigara City, when an emergency call reported a fire erupting from the second floor of a neighboring house.
Thirteen firefighting vehicles rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the flames approximately two hours later. However, the fire razed the two-story wooden residential building.
Two dead bodies, suspected to be occupants of the home, were discovered within the burnt remains, while three others injured were transported to a nearby hospital, according to local police.
Local authorities said that the house was inhabited by a family of five, consisting of a couple in their 40s and three children. The father, along with both teenage son and daughter, were rescued and transported to the hospital, who are now conscious and stable.
The police are actively working on identifying the bodies found in the fire, presumed to be the missing mother and another child, as they have not been reachable following the incident, according to local media reports.
