Patna : To prevent the spread of coronavirus in Patna, a complete lockdown is commencing for a week from Friday, while a total of 89 containment zones have been announced in Patna district. 20 in Patna City, 37 in Patna Sadar, 17 in Danapur, 7 in Drafthi, 8 containment zones in Paliganj. Patna DM DM Ravi has given instructions to strictly implement the lockdown in the Containment Zone starting from Friday. Along with this, instructions have been given for barricading and creating buffer zones as per the need so that the growing effects of corona infection and its chain can be eliminated.
A full lockdown has been announced from 10–16 July after the corona cases in Patna suddenly increased rapidly. In this regard, the District Magistrate of Patna Kumar Ravi issued the order on Wednesday. The order stated that markets, offices and other business activities would be prohibited during the period of lockdown in the state capital, excluding essential services.
Bihar had the highest number of 749 coronavirus infections reported in a single day on Wednesday, including 235 cases in Patna alone, after which this decision of lockdown has been taken. This is the first instance of the state crossing the 700 mark of Coronavirus cases in a day.
