Uber Shut Down Its Mumbai Office, Services For Riders to Remain Unaffected

New Delhi : Uber, an online cab booking service, has closed its office in Mumbai under restructuring. Sources said that despite the closure of the office, there will be no impact on the cab service in the city and it will remain operational as before. However, the company’s cab service in the city will remain unaffected by this decision. When contacted, the Uber spokesperson said that Uber will continue to provide a high level of service to all its passengers in Mumbai.

Sources said the decision to close the Mumbai office is part of the global restructuring plan. In May, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi informed employees that management had decided to close its 45 offices worldwide.

A source said that most of the employees are being given the facility to work from home during the Coronavirus epidemic so that they can provide support to the service. So far, there has been no confirmation that any sorting will be done due to the closure of Mumbai office.

Uber has a very big office in Gurugram. Apart from this, there are technology centers in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Apart from this, it has small support offices in many cities. In May, Uber said it would lay off 600 employees in India, including drivers and people from the rider support operations. Uber has about 2500 employees in India. The company’s business has been badly affected by the Coronavirus.

The company has announced layoffs of 6700 full time employees worldwide. Apart from this, restrictions have also been imposed on travel of officers and employees. New recruits have been banned completely.
