Pune : Policenama online  – Some students of the third-year mechanical engineering from a famous educational institute in the city have been diagnosed with Covid-19. The incident happened at the MIT World Peace University, Kothrud. (Covid-19 positive at MIT Pune)

There is a dire need of following the new norms in holding offline classes and exams in the future as coronavirus infection has made an entry into an educational institution in Pune.

The students having two doses of Corona vaccine have been allowed to attend offline classes. The authorities followed the directions given by the University Grants Commission and the state government. Yet, the students were contracted with the virus.

Speaking about this, MIT registrar Prashant Dave said only those students who have taken two doses of the preventive vaccine are allowed entry into the university campus. A couple of days ago, it was found that 25 students came in contact with a student suffering due to Covid-19.

These students were preparing for the national-level SUPRA competition. When tests were done on them, 13 were found positive while the reports of 9 students were negative. The test reports of four students are yet to be received. None of the students are contracted with Omicron, said Dave.

The students were working in a workshop located at a secluded corner of the university campus where other students were not allowed. So, there is no need of shutting down the entire institute as of now, Dave added.

Taking a cue, the MIT administration is now extra cautious as students are being admitted to the campus after following the instructions given by the government.
