Pune: Some colleagues parted ways fearing ED action – Sharad Pawar
Pune: Policenama online – Pune News | “Some of our colleagues parted ways as they were fearing the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) action. They went to the BJP. But they are claiming that they are still in the NCP. We have not changed our ideology,” said NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. (Pune News)
He was speaking at a function in the city on Sunday.
He warned that they might have taken this stand to avoid going to jail. But those who do not follow the path of truth will be punished by the people in the future.
Pawar said, “Maharashtra is facing many challenges such as rising prices of essential commodities, unemployment and crime. Farmers are not getting good remuneration for their produce. People are concerned about these issues.”
Pawar said, “How many industrial projects went to Gujarat and other states from Maharashtra? They should definitely set up new industries in Gujarat. But not at the cost of Maharashtra. The state government has lost an opportunity to show good results.”
Criticism of the onion export policy
Sharad Pawar came down heavily on the Centre’s policy to export agricultural produce. “The Central Government has increased 40 percent duty on the export of onions. This has closed the international markets to onion growers. This is a decision against the interest of Maharashtra and farmers. This should be opposed tooth and nail. The Centre will think twice before making such decisions in the future.”
