Amicable settlement of the internal dispute between senior doctors in JJ: Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Ajit Pawar on Friday said that the collective resignation of nine senior doctors in the Ophthalmology Department of JJ Hospital in Mumbai, Indefinite strike called by MARD resident doctors of the hospital, Internal dispute of senior doctors of JJ Hospital affecting the patient care of the hospital and health care of the state.

Pawar in his letter to state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in which he demanded that it should be removed and the plight of patients should be stopped.

He pointed out that due to the internal dispute between the senior doctors at JJ Hospital in Mumbai, patient services have come to a standstill and the plight of patients and their relatives is going on.

With a large number of senior ophthalmology doctors resigning, JJ’s ophthalmology department has come to a standstill in examining patients and teaching resident doctors.

Along with the resignation of these nine senior doctors, Mard’s 750 resident doctors at JJ Hospital have gone on an indefinite strike. This strike also had an adverse effect on the patient care of all departments in JJ.

It is understood that Dr Lanae, among 9 senior doctors including Ragini Parekh, and Dean Dr Pallavi Saple resigned due to harassment and non-cooperation.

It is not appropriate to have such a controversy among senior doctors of a reputed, non-profit health institution like JJ Hospital. This controversy should be stopped immediately as it is lethal to the health care of the state.

Pawar has also requested the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Medical Education that the Minister of Medical Education should find a practical solution to this dispute immediately, universally, no injustice will be done to anyone, and it will be in the interest of the health care of the state, he added.
