Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) Amidst a vibrant atmosphere, the 21-day celebrations commemorating the 10th anniversary of Telangana’s formation commenced across the state on Friday.

The grand inauguration took place at Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, where Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) hoisted the national flag. Following the flag hoisting, he received a police salute. Earlier he paid homage to the Telangana martyrs at Gunpark.

Addressing the audience, CM KCR expressed that the people of Telangana had relentlessly fought for six decades to achieve statehood. Telangana state came into existence on June 2, 2014, marking the realization of the aspirations of its people. Reflecting on the state’s emergence, he noted the challenges faced and highlighted Telangana’s remarkable transformation into a formidable economic power in the country.

He said the government has taken on the responsibility of leading the society towards development by addressing the sectors that were previously neglected in Telangana. It is committed to rectifying the discriminatory policies of the central government and has embarked on the journey of “Rediscover Telangana, Rebuild Telangana.” Several laws, plans, and guidelines have been formulated based on the immediate needs, available resources, and conditions of the people.

Comparing the conditions of the past with the achievements witnessed during the state’s decennial celebrations, CM KCR emphasized the tremendous progress made despite the setback caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in nearly three years of disruption. He applauded the state’s rapid progress in various fields.

Regarding developmental initiatives, he highlighted that Telangana has resolved the long-standing electricity problem within a few months, unlike the previous 60 years of governance.

The state has overcome power shortages, providing an uninterrupted electricity supply. Telangana has also excelled in terms of per capita income, becoming a model for other states to emulate.

CM KCR mentioned the successful implementation of initiatives such as Mission Bhagiratha providing clean water to every household, and the Dalit Bandhu scheme, which offers support to marginalized communities.

Further, he announced the implementation of the Grihalakshmi scheme, providing Rs. 3 lakhs for the construction of each house, starting from July. Furthermore, land ownership certificates (pattas) will be issued to Podu landowners on June 24, and the Rythu Bandhu scheme will be implemented for their benefit.

The Chief Minister also announced the commencement of the second phase of sheep distribution for the eligible Golla Kurmulu community.

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajana hoisted the national flag at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of State Formation Day.
